Unstuck

I've been trying to make a project for a month now and can't seem to find the right ingredients to make the collage work. Because of that I haven't started anything new. I finally decided to put it aside and create something else. First I had to clean up my work space because that was also keeping me from feeling creative. As I was cleaning I started making a pile of scraps that weren't good enough to keep. Then I remembered a project I saw on Gingersnap Creations by Trisha Too about making a background out of scraps. I've done these before but not this large. I started with a piece of scrapbook paper that I had and hated. It had telephones all over it. Not anymore!
I started being careful about placement but all those carefully placed pieces got buried. I got ruthless with it and hit the recycling bin and covered the page. Ok, it is just ugly now but my challenge is to make it look great so check back and see if I can make something pretty out of it.

Before the holidays I was working in my mini moleskin that is only a few inches long. This first page has a scrap paper background that I meant to put a glaze on but it ended up too thick and you can't see the paper.

Then I did a couple gluebook pages.

Check out this cute little boy.

I hope you are all doing well!

  1. Hi Susan, I tried the background tutorial posted by Tricia too and it does work!! The key is really the paint (to tie it all together) and the stamping. You have a lot of strong images, so a couple of paint tones may be necessary IF you don't want them coming through so strong. Have fun with it.

  2. Dear Susan your pages are so beautifully done, love the sweet images you used, the little boy, the tree and the cat, everything fits so great together.

  3. I am intrigued by the idea to create a background out of scraps and such. I will try that myself. Of course, I am also looking forward to seeing how you will end up using your background. :)

  4. I hear ya about getting inspired - I just wish I had more time to dedicate to the fun stuff rather than work (which I need to do to SUPPORT doing the fun stuff, LOL)...
