This was fun because I didn't have to buy a thing. I used scraps of fabric and lace that I had and I dug through the old button box and found some really pretty old things to add.
I made the rosettes out of seam binding. I've been watching everyone else make these for too long and I've been dying to try it.
I did some embroidery around the edges of the picture. Oh, the picture was another first. I had never printed a picture onto fabric. Worked like a charm!
I even hand quilted some of the photograph.
Finally, I attached an old necklace to the top to be a hanger. I had retired this necklace a long time ago and put it in my craft box. I may retire it from this quilt shortly and put it back in the jewelry box.
I may have to do another mini-quilt because I really enjoyed this. Actually I need to get back to my bigger quilt that I haven't worked on in months. I packed it all up when I moved and haven't had a chance to work on it since I got here. That's the excuse I'm going with anyway.
I signed up for Mary Green's "My Christmas Gluebook" Class. I'm really looking forward to that!
Love everything about this sweet piece! Well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda!
ReplyDeleteUsing a necklace as a hanger was a very clever way to re-purpose it and I love the seam binding roses! This turned out great Sue.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! You did a lovely job with all the vintage ecru, ivory, off whites, & especially the hearts necklace. I love all those colors and textures you've used! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat type of brand of photo fabric did you use? That's something on my "to do/make" list but haven't got to it yet.
